Hi S- Yes, we do both have difficult decisions to make. I am having a really down day. On Friday, when I washed my hair, I lost hardly any hair in both washing and styling. It made me feel so hopeful. I didn't wash it yesterday, and then when I washed it today, I had the most shedding I think I can ever remember. Does this happen to you at all (good days then bad days) or are they all pretty consistent? When I first started shedding, the days were all pretty consistent, but now I seem to have good days and bad days.
After you had the intial shed in Nov.-Dec., how long did it take before you first started to see any regrowth? I first started to shed in March and I can't see any regrowth anywhere yet. If I could, I would feel so much more hopeful.
My sister (who is five years younger than me)was telling me that when she was younger (before she was on the pill) she had to bleach her arm hair and that she had a lot of arm hair and it seemed to stick up (which mine does now but it never did before). She also said that she used to shave her knuckles (!) Nopw that she has been on the pill for about 6 years, she said that her arm hair is much less and it lies flat to her arm. She also said she hasn't shaved her knuckles in years. She did say that she has hair on her stomach. So I am actually wondering if my excess hair growth on my body is familial and if this is how much hair I would have on my body if I had never been on the pill. It's so hard to know exactly what is going on.
I've never phoned a doctor to ask a question, no. But it would be worth a try, I think. I've called my family doctor, but not the derm. or endo. It might be a good idea to be overly polite about it and to ask the secretary what would be a good time to call or if there is a time when he/she accepts calls from patients to ask questions. I know my family doctor only has a one hour time slot when you can call and talk to her because the other time she is with patients.
I started on 25 mg. a day of Zoloft and was on that for a wekk before moving to 50 mg. which I have been on for 3 weeks (so a month in total). The thing that really concerns me is if my hair gets worse or even stays the same and doesn't improve, I will be wondering if it is because of the Zoloft. I am going to start tapering off the med. slowly. I knwo this is probably the wrong thing to do for my mental health, but I just don't want to put my hair in further jeopardy. It's helped me to stick it out in school for the rest of the school year and teach kids every day. Maybe once I am home for the summer (in three more weeks) I won't need the Zoloft as much. Or maybe I'll need it more because I'll be home all day with nothing to do and will be alone. Oh, it's all just so terrible. I wish this nightmare would be over for all of us.
How long were you on Prozac for? When was this (during or before your hair loss)?

I am supposed to start Yasmin next Sunday. I have been on Loestrin for two years now and have had no luck. I have PCOS for about 8 or 9 years now. I have been on spironolactone and also on many diabetic medications for this problem. Good luck. Keep me posted with your luck in taking Yasmin
