Good to hear from you. I was curious about what this newly approved Yasmin contains. On Webmd.com, I found that as almost all birth control pills do, it has ethinyl estradiol as its estrogen component (although I couldn't find how much) and a different form of the hormone progestin, called drospirenone.
The article said that "drospirenone is a form of the long-used diuretic spironolactone, which can change the body's balance of water and nutrients by stimulating urination... it can cause a rise in the body's potassium levels, which can lead to heart problems and other health concerns." Of course, the same thing can be said about spironolactone which so many women on this site take already without problems.
The article didn't state how much of the progestin it contained so I don't know how it compares to spiro. Since spiro helps so many women, maybe this will turn out to be a good pill for women with hair loss.
If anyone finds out more about Yasmin, please let us know.

I am doing some research on Desogen, and I keep seeing references to TE and hair loss. What exactly is TE? (please spell out). I have severe endometriosis and I am continually having to switch BCPs and have experienced some hair loss.
