Hi. I was on Orthocept and then Desogen for 5 years with seemingly no problems. I then went off the pill for about 3-4 months. Once off, I noticed that my moods, emotions and appetite were more even keeled. Having met someone, I decided to go back on, but wanted a pill that wouldn't be as disruptive to my disposition. So, in February my PCP put me on Levora (levonorgestrel .15mg and ethinyl estradiol .03mg). Only in the past week or two have I awoken to the fact that my hair is indeed falling out. So after a week into my fourth pack - this past Monday - I stopped taking the Levora. I've talked on the phone with a nurse who after emailing my PCP (!) replied that I should just go back on the Desogen. Since I didn't feel comfortable finishing the Levora pack, the plan is to wait, get my period, and the following Sunday start on the Desogen. Understandably, I'm quite confused and scared as to what my best move is. Reading through the posts on this site, I'm rather terrified to do or not do anything. Plus, does anyone know the difference from and the consequences of levonorgestrel (Levora) and desogestrel (desogen). Please respond asap - I cannot afford to lose anymore hair, and clearly this is not an issue that the medical community is responsive to. Thanks so much.
