Here is what I've been reading about a new BCP called Yasmin that's already been approved in Europe and will be in the US sometimes this year. This BCP has a new progestigen called "drospironone". It s a derivative of "spironolactone", which has very good ANTI-ANDROGENIC effects. Isn't that what we all like to hear since all other BCP's progestigens are derived from TESTOSTERONE (yes, believe it). So far, the only other BCP that has progestigens with antiandrogic effects is Diane-35 ED, which contains cyproterone acetate 2mg. Cyproterone Acetate, known as Androcur is THE most powerful antiandrogen available yet and it is very popular in Europe but is not available in the US. Until Yasmin, there were no other BCP in the US which contained a progestigen that has antiandrogenic effects. Since we all know that BCP can cause hailoss in women because of the androgenicity in all the current pill, this may be a good choice. All current available BCP in the US have some androgenicity in them ranging from least to most, Yasmin is the only one now that actually has antiandrogen effects other than Diane-35 in Europe. Let's hope that this will be good for us who suffers. You can get more info by searching in Yahoo under "drospironone". Hope this information will help somebody. All I can say is that the best person to take care of your body is yourself. Just be very careful before you do anything. Watch and feel your body carefully. I've had problems with hormones for years and it's taken me years to finally figured out that's the cause of my problem, yet the doctor seems to think otherwise. They looked at me like I'm a dork. I have finally (I really really really hope) figured out my own "thing" to do and I think it seems to be helping a little. I hope I can grow back some of what I have lost.
