Hi C- sorry so long in responding. I do think the levels of estrogen in desogen were too low for me. I also had some male hormone problems like acne and breakouts. So she switched me to orthcyclen - it is also non-androgenic (thus why it is good for your skin!) but probably better than orthotricyclen, since it is a constant amount of progestin for all three weeks instead of cycling. the advantage of this is that if you tend to produce more male hormone, cycling usually makes it worse. anyway, my hair loss has not stopped yet (on the orthocyclen for only 3 weeks) although for a few days earlier this week it had slowed. my obgyn said to try it for a little while and see what happens. but my skin is better already, so maybe the hair will be ok once my levels of hormones settle down. currently i am losing about 100 hairs a day (which for me is ALOT.) hope this helps!
