Drospirenone is a derivative of spironolactone? What a huge disappointment! I had a severe allergic reaction to spironolactone and was thinking of trying Yasmin, but I guess I won't be now! I certainly hope that the package information for Yasmin warns women about any sensitivities to spironolactone.
I agree that the drospirenone in Yasmin most likely won't be as effective at controlling acne or stopping hair loss as Diane 35, simply because spironolactone is much less potent than cyproterone acetate. But it's quite definate that Yasmin won't cause the bloating and water weight gain that Diane often does. Tough choice!
I'm personally going to stick with the Diane. I still have the odd break out on Diane, so I definately don't want to go with something even less effective.
