Dear Beth: Hi. Sorry to hear about your father.
The best things to due when suffering from TE is to eat well and take iron (see www.florisene.com). I recommend seeing a nutritionist. What blood tests did your doctor take? It's important to have a hormonal workup, thyroid workup (this is important esp. since you mentioned hair becoming dry since the fallout--this is sometimes linked to thyroid illness) and total iron and FERRATIN levels checked. You need a ferratin(iron stores) of 70+ to regrow hair when your TE is done shedding. If you have not had a full physical and blood work done--do it to rule out other possible triggers. The strss that you have suffered from your fathers death is in and of itself enough to cause TE--but have the tests to be on the safe side.
Take care and God Bless. Lisa
