Hey Tig..I read you reply to my post and my heart goes out to you. Aga is hereditary hair-loss. Is you mom/dad/grandparents/aunts/uncles thinning or bald?? The hair-loss associated with aga can be anywhere from hair-loss all over the head to just slight thinning. Sometimes it starts as a teenager. In women it typically starts around menopause when your hormones are decreasing. I got a book from the library all about hair-loss. And I belive the title was "causes and treatments of hair-loss" I could be wrong. I typed it into the search on the library coputers and found it. It has pictures of the 3 types of hair-loss associated with aga (which I am sure I have but am not sure why because it is not in my family). I am mostly just thinning on the top and sides but the most noticeable spot is a triangle spot just above my bangs. I understand about hair-loss with hair styling. After the 1st derm told me I was imagining the loss I went to a beautician just for a simple haircut. I told her about the hair-loss just in conversation and she said I had tons of hair, that it was just very fine. She suggested a perm. Well I have hair down to the bottom of my back and a perm for that length of hair gets pretty pricey so I decided to let a friend do it. I bought the cheapest perm solution I could find not knowing there was a difference. The end result was my hair did not hold the perm and went completely straight a week later. I lost about 1/3 of my hair due to breakage which most is growing back and is now down to my ears but the worst part was that I got chemical burns on my scalp and somehow I totally fried all the hair follicles in one spot that is right above my bangs. It is about the size of a pencil eraser. It blends pretty well with the part right there and the thinning. I will never have hair there again because there are no hair follicles. I am half tempted to get a mini hair transplant right there. :) So I can understand how you feel. How does your hair look right now? Is it noticeable to others or only you?? How old are you??
