You had said this statement and it got me thinking. "Having AGA doesn't mean you have an androgen problem! Being prescribed Aldactone doesn't mean you have an androgen problem."
See, for what I know about this is that androgenic alopecia and androgenetic alopecia is that they both are caused by an androgen excess, with the later also contributing with genetic factors as well. But both are affected by the effect of testosterone. "The majority of women with androgenic alopecia actually do not have elevated androgen levels but have increased sensitivity of their hair follicles to androgens." Dr. Redmond.
For what I know is that yes, being prescribed Aldactone is not necessary to having an androgen problem. That seems obvious since it is being used off-label as an anti-androgen. It is normally prescribed for blood pressure problems. But in the case of hair loss problems, I thought that the reason for prescribing it was that if there was an androgen problem it may help in blocking it. Why else prescribe it for hair loss?
So, if I am totally off-base here I would appreciate your explaining your response for me so that I may better understand things. I am always searching for ANSWERS and if I have this all wrong, please feel free to straighten me out.

hi suicidal my name is esther from the united kindom. i know how u feel i have alopecia androgenetica which i have had since i started my monthly cycle. after years of bloodtests etc i now know that i have PCO which is todo with a hormanl balance. This has made my hair fall out. There is so much info on this and i am wondering if whether u have had any tests done. I do understand how u feel and i too felt suicidal. But to my surprise i have met the most wonderful man that excepts me for who i am. I do have wigs which i wear occasionaly i suppose at this precise moment i am making the most with what i have until the day comes for me to wear them all the time. (THAT WILL BE ANY DAY)Have u thought about wearing a wig? My partner says that i look more confident which i do. plese believe things will get better just remember there are a lot of women suffering with hairloss nowadays than there were say ten years ago.
