Michelle, Why do you say you have AGA? I thought you said the doctor said PCOS. Now I'd rather have PCOS, then AGA. Well I have had Areata on and off for 15 years. Sometimes it was every year, or years would go by with nothing. I did the cortisone shots, but most of the time it went away on it's own. The last 8 years of my life have been major stress. In the first 5 years, my Dad had 5 spinal surgeries. In the last 3 years, my Mom almost died. I lost a good friend to AIDS. I had 3 animals die in 2 months. The pressure of my job and taking care of a disabled Dad has not been easy. I had a minor female surgery 3 years ago and the doctor gave me iron after it. I never took it, big mistake. My iron now is 38, my GP has me on 325 mg of ferrous sulfate, twice a day. I'm saving money to see this awesome dermatologist at Mayo. I already saw a butthead endo who did all the tests and all came back normal. He even said my adrogens were great but said AGA I was like why and he flat out said I didn't have it but he'd try sprolactine anyway. By the way the meds he gave me did nothing for me. When I asked about my areata, he flat out said he knows nothing about hair loss. So that was a waste of 3,000 dollars. My GP looked at the tests I got done at the endo and laughed and said where does this fool see AGA. All the time in the past 3 years since this has started I have areata with difusa. The difusa is mostly in the nape mostly right side and above ear right side. Right now I have a baby areata in the front right side. My top is thick left side is thick and top back thick. I can live with areata, only wish the difusa in the nape would stop. I lose 200 to 300 hairs a day all over but mostly from nape and one side. I don't lose a lot from the top. My hair grows and the strands are still thick. I just lose alot everyday. Thank God it grows back as much as I lose I should be bald. So until I feel good enough to return to work, I do my iron and keep my scalp clean and think good thoughts. So that's my long story. It will be months until I can afford the doc at Mayo, she's 450 to walk in the door. Well would love to compare notes with ya. Take care Tig.
