I share your pain and symptoms except that I would not describe the smell as yeasty, just gross! I have been the yeast treatment route and don't think it is the problem. You are the only other person that has described the yellow/green oozers -- they do dry up and then come right back. I am not being wierd here, but do you get them in other places (private places), like I do? Like you, the antibiotics worked only for a few weeks. Right now I am in the pre-green stage with clear liquid in the bumps, which I drain/sqeeze so they don't reach the green stage. After acutane, I was clear for about 6 months but now it is back. For some reason, it is not going to the "infection" stage. The only new things I have tried are Semodex shampoo by Nizoral and a few months ago I treated my scalp twice with elimite cream thinking that I was infected with demodex mites (which I read about in the men's forum). I am just waiting for this to go full tilt to show the new dermatologist (number 7) who insinuated that this was a perception/emotional thing when I saw her -- I was not full-blown ucky when I finally got in to see her. For some reason I am balking at the vinegar rinse solution -- it just doesn't sound like it will work with this mess. I am going to copy this to the hair and scalp odor discussion topic to maybe get something more started there...

I use SAL3 soap - it is marvelous. It contains 3 % salicylic acid and 10% sulfur. It is not harsh at all, and I use it regularly as a bar form shampoo . It is the best medicated soap I have ever used. I find it at: www.SAL3.com and also www.sulfursoap.com

I have a problem with a terrible smell that comes only from my scalp. It smells like very dirty oily hair even though I wash it in the am and pm. The color of my scalp on the entire top of my head is a little red, and sometimes it feels itchy, and sometimes I have a burning sensation. The sides and back of my scalp are normal in color, with no itching or burning. I notice when I perspire the problem gets much worse and I smell like garbage (literally) Does anyone know what this is, and how can I get rid of this embarrassing odor permanently? I have been to 10 Dermatologists and nobody knows what to do. Thanks for your help. Joyce
