I have this same problem. I've been checking occasionally for years on the internet to see if anyone has the answer. I too get a few in the creases of my pubic area. They tend to be larger there. I do think it is hormonal. I've always been prone to acne and was on accutane for a while a few years back which did seem to bring some relief innitially, but to tell you the truth I think now that it is back it is actually worse. The smell is horrible!! I sometimes shower twice a day if I need to go out in the evening. I have tried the vinegar rinse when I am desperate, and it does work. I just don't know how good vinegar is for your hair every day so I don't do it all the time. There must be something we can do to eliminate the problem and not just cover it. Did the person that was going to go to the Mayo clinic find anything out there?? My pillow reeks in the morning - UGH!! One morning my daughter thought it smelled like somebody had thrown up on it. :( I don't think it is something I've picked up from somewhere - I just think it is a hormonal, sebaceous gland problem. But there must be a reason it has been flaring worse the last year or so. It does go in cycles of pimples, then pustules, then flaking, then nothing, then all over again. It is itchy too. Right at the crown of my head mostly. It's repulsing.
