Like you, I am suffering from a scalp odor problem. I have been for about a year now and it has gotten worse in the past month. It is so bad that I don't even want to go to school or work and just stay home. I am feeling so depressed and downright sick. Sick of my problem, sick of people's reactions and sick of the lack of solution!! If you are like me, then you probably used every single medicated shampoo and soap and have visited more than one doctors concerning this issue- to receive absolutely no help, just more humiliation. The point to this rambling is this: WE CANNOT WAIT FOR ANY DOCTORS TO HELP US. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT NONE OF THEM KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO FIND THE CAUSE, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE SOLUTION! And the only method that I can think of at the moment is this. A Survey. I don't know what everyone's lifestyle is like and what you guys experience. If we are going to get to the bottom of this problem, we need to know what kind of environment that everyone lives in. Maybe we will find that everyone is doing similar things that will point us in the right direction of finding the cause. Because to find the cure, we need to know what's causing it first. So without further ado, here's something that I just made. Please put in the extra minute to fill this out, if you are experiencing the same problem. I promise that this will not go to waste! I feel so weak and stupid by waiting for something to fall in my lap. I really would like to ask everyone to see this survey to the end. (long, average, short) 4) Before the odor, did you fully dry your hair after washing it? 5) where do you live? (state/province will be fine) 6) How long have you had this problem? 7) Where abouts is the smell coming from? (the top of the scalp, toward the back, etc.) 8) After washing your hair, how long does it take for the smell to come back? 9) Do you experience anything else unusual with the scalp? (itchiness, etc.) 10) What methods have you used so far? 11) Do you notice anything irregular with the rest of the body? ( no arm pit odor, etc.) 12) Do you own any pets? 13) Have you tried pills of any kind for this problem and did they help at all? 14) Have you done any hormonal treatments? 15) Does the smell come back quicker and worse every time (as weeks pass)? 15) What do you suspect to be the cause of this? 16) Comments: Thank you again, for all your support. I would just like to add that I am not a professional analysts who knows what she is doing. I am a 21 year old student who just thought this would become very relevant in finding a cure for us.
