My goodness, I go one day without checking into the forum and the whole place goes down the toilet. If I may be permitted to be a voice of reason... Someone mentioned a while back that it is difficult with the influx of anonymous posts, because nobody knows who they're replying to. An additional problem with total anonymity is like the cowardly attack by the person yesterday who went slagging on males for worrying about their hairloss. May I suggest everyone adopt a name they use consistently in here? It's not like you're giving yourself away to the world, it could be a nickname or your middle name or something. Just some way for people to follow who is saying what, and make people more accountable for what they say. That should minimize the unnecessary nastiness that has popped up. To the ass who attacked males in here, let me explain something to you. Most of the males in here are not 40 year olds. They are in their teens and twenties (remember how the hairloss started? It was from accutane used to treat acne! It's a good bet that most of the sufferers are young adults). It is not normal to be noticably balding in early adulthood and it hurts. I think most of us males try to be very supportive to the females in here, and we all admit that it would be far harder in our society to be a female in this position, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt us too. If I was 40 when this happened to me, I'm sure I wouldn't be jumping for joy, but it wouldn't be so bad. But going bald doesn't make me look more mature, I have a very young looking face. It just makes me look ugly. Disrespecting others in here is not tolerable. How dare you belittle someone for sharing their pain about being told they look like a chemo patient? Have you seen him? Do you know for certain that he is exaggerating? People come here, male and female, because they are worried and hurting and their doctors are not properly educated in the medications they dish out and therefore are of no help. We've all come here to share our stories and support eachother and to look for an answer to our troubles. On top of it all, there is even a sense of relief that each of us isn't the only one with this problem. I have only made a couple of posts in here, but I've been impressed by the supportiveness of most of the posters. If you only want to tear others down so that you can feel better about yourself, I suggest you get your kicks elsewhere. Let's hope that's the last time this has to be said in here.
