It breaks my heart that your'e hurting. I know exactly how you feel. My understanding, regarding TE, is that it will start 3 or so months after the event (be it starting or stopping BCP for instance) and can last from 6-12 months. Everything I’ve read indicates that it WILL correct itself and you WILL NOT go bald as a result of this type of hair loss. I try to repeat these two facts to myself whenever I get carried away with it. I can’t be my worst enemy at a time like this, I have to encourage and support myself. Do the same. You have done nothing wrong. You will come through this. It just sucks big time that the hair loss is faster than the recovery. I was off the BCP in July 2000. I had noticed that I was losing hair around November, but really didn’t realize the severity of my hair loss until April 2001. That’s when I saw how much I had lost, I’d say about 30% or more was gone and kept going and going. I started to have panic attacks again (something I thought I’d conquered over a year prior to this happening). Then I just said STOP. I cannot and will not torture myself because my hair is falling out. Hang in there, I hope your doctors visit gives you some piece of mind. Hopefully others on the forum will respond as well.
