I was on OrthoCyclen for about 5-6 years prior to stopping. I was very happy with it and I did not have any problems while on it. The hair loss definitely started after I stopped using it. I decided to re-start with the OrthCyclen. Since I’ve been on it I’ve noticed breast tenderness and bruising easily, which I think happened when I first got on BCPs. My acne has started to clear up on my face. Those are the only symptoms I’ve experienced so far. I’ve looked over photos of me from a year ago and I can clearly see that I had great, thick hair. I think getting back on is right for me. I know how you feel. It is ridiculous. I can’t believe that this problem can so completely emotionally destroy me. I’m sure we’ll get through it. I saw my dermatologist today and she said she definitely saw regrowth and that the itchiness I was feeling was probably related (I’m not experiencing the painful itching or tightness others have written about. Its more like the itchiness you feel if you haven’t washed your hair in a few days very mild). She also told me that the pill’s effects on my hair won’t be noticeable until after 3 months. So I have to play more of the waiting game. Is there a particular reason you got off BCP? What signs of regrowth do you see? And were you able to schedule an appointment to see a doctor?
