Kris, I was on 4 different BCP in the 8-9 year period, starting with Loestrin, Orthotricyclen, Ovcon and ending with Loestrin. The Loestrin was the one I believe that started this all (it's horribly androgenic) and of course changing from one to the others just made it worse. During the worst shedding, I shed maybe 100-150, which is a lot for my hair since it was fine and thin to begin with. It's been 7 months since I stopped Loestrin and the shedding seems to be a little better (less than 100), but I have yet to see any significant regrowth--however there is a little. I hear the topical spiro only smells bad when used or mixed with Rogaine. By itself I don't think it's too bad. If I don't see a huge improvement by Dec, I think I will try the topical spiro. I don't want to screw up my hormones by using the oral spiro. That will be my last resort. I tried minoxidil for a year and it didn't do anything for me. But I'm off BCP forever.
