Make sure they test serum ferritin as that is the iron test which shows what your iron stores are. I hear it has to be 70 or greater to grow hair. Run a complete thyroid panel: TSH, T3, T4; hormones: estrodoil, progesterone, free & total testosterone, cortisol, androgens & DHEAS. I'm not sure how accurate the tests are if you are on BCP. I waited 6 months off them before I was tested, however, my GYN said I didn't have to. Anyway, starting and stopping and changing BCPs causes hair loss (telegon effluvium which is temporary unless it triggers genetic alopecia). And like my case, just being on them caused it. But you need to rule out other things with the tests. Good luck with your doctor.
