Sue, There's no harm in asking a simple question. You did an excellent job. You asked the question, you admitted that you didn't know if it was correct or not. It's ok. That is one of the purposes of the forum. Exploration of the issues and learning for yourself. That's why I come here. I sure don't have a scientific or medical background, but I need info to help fight my hairloss.

Lisa, hi, I do want to comment about studies. I agree with you that when someone makes claims they should back them up. But making a claim of fact is not quite the same as asking a question. I have asked about many rumors that I have heard because I need perspectives. For example, I have had several people tell me that nutra sweet is bad for hair. But I can't find any info on why anyone would think that. So I came here and asked people. It's ok to do that. You have been awesome and provide a lot of info and it's certainly appreciated. But please try to keep in mind that there are many different levels of understanding and education backgrounds here. Our common bond is hairloss.

Another comment on studies: Many times, I'm not a fan of studies because the researcher may be biased. Also, "experts" contradict each other frequently. Then some of them have agendas. For example, maybe you have been reading that dairy products are horrible for us now because of bovine growth hormone. Well, consider some issues here. Perhaps, vegens don't want people to use dairy because it's cruel. They might help fund research that will make milk unhealthy. On the other hand, dairy farmers have found it in their best interest to promote the drinking of milk. They may fund research that contradicts other findings. It's just hard to tell because there really isn't a lot of "pure science". Humans are involved and we don't know all of their motivations.

So what do I believe. I believe in hearing what people like you and Sue tell me about your personal experiences. Oh sure, I can't discount studies alltogether, but I try to be objective and consider all angles.

I did not mean to lecture, but I just don't want anyone afraid to get blasted. We are all in this together. Take care all, Jean
