Hi Gina, you asked me about how acccutane fits in my treatment, I really don't know, I don't suggest it because it is very dangerous, I take it because my derm. prescribed it to me for my seborrhea (extremely oily hair) because nothing can help me with this but if you don't have very bad acne or very bad oily hair I don't suggest you because it dries your hair so much that you can have hair loss from it (for the extremely dry) and it has a lot of side effects especially if you have high dose (in my case for seborrhea I just need very low dose,so I don't have side effects) Anyway as Michelle I recomend you to try things that there are not dangerous, that's why I would like to stop taking accutane. On the other hand topical spiro has helped my hair loss tremendously (no hair loss for the moment) but remember that I'm having finasteride, maybe the combo is working. Once I read on a post that a very good dermatologist has helped many women with the following treatment, and you will need the three drugs: 1)an antiandrogen: finasteride if you are a man or oral spiro if you are a women 2)minox 5% 3)topical spiro 2 or 3%. And this is the treatment I'm having, he recommends oral spiro for women instead finasteride but Dr. Sawaya in the video on the bald truth says woman can give a try to finasteride, who knows. Today my mother told me that my hair looks beautiful, but you know, She is my mother, the only thing I can say is that I have no hair loss, it is incredible, now I wash my hair each 2/3 days and there is just 1 or 2 hairs in the shower, 3/4 when I dry it and comb it, I cannot believe it, I used to have 200 or more in the shower and 200 during the day and I had to wash my hair everyday because it was so oily. Anyway I'm plannin to change accutane to spiro but I'm going to wait maybe one month because I'm scared if I need to wait 6 months with shedding for seeing results, now I am so happy that I would like to stay a little more with this feeling and no more fear in the shower or when I comb my hair. Now what I know after years crying and being so sad that the response is out there, what it is difficult is to find out which is our treatment, now I have my life again but I'm still scared if hair loss will come again. Sorry for my English I know it isn't very good. Please if you have any doubts ask me I will never go away from this forums because many people has helped me and they have been very supportive with me. I think this is not the best treatment or solution but I'm sure something better will come for all of us.Regards, Ieve.
