Olga, what you're saying sounds very familiar. I've been dealing with this mess for almost 20 years. Luckily, I had tons of hair, but that didn't help a hairline that never looked normal, even at age 17. Even then I had weird little hairs that would come and go.

Because the hair on top of my head was so thick, it concealed the sides. Then in 1997, I lost most of that top hair over a period of a few days.

My hairline has moved up almost three-quarters of an inch, from temple to temple. What is left are sparse, vellous hairs from the top of my ears to below them. Luckily, I have some "fringe" hair left above my ears, that allows me to cover the sides.

I use DermMatch and Toppik to try to cover. As you know, how do you cover a missing hairline?

I've had every diagnosis possible, and we thought it was lupus for a while. Now, I wonder....I've also used every medication possible, starting with Rogaine for Men a thousand years ago.

Your statement about Aldactone is very interesting, because I took it 4 years ago. Before that, doctors believed it could make my hairloss *worse.* I wonder what they knew then?

It didn't help, still doesn't help, and I know I'm just using up all the stuff I have. yet I'm going to try topical spiro, because it kills me to see my hairline freaking out on me.

In the past 6 or 8 months, the hair on top of my hair has grown thinner and ditto for the crown hair. This is definitely pattern baldness, like a man's!

I've been to every doctor in NYC and calif., and received differing diagnoses. At this point, what could a doctor say? DR. Redmond is a believer in Aldactone; Vera Price loves Rogaine. yeah, but I've been using them!

So I decided that I need to chill out as much as I can and believe there's something down the road that *will* help. I live in the hottest, most humid part of the U.S., and the last thing I want is a wig.

Olga, there will be something that will help both of us. We obviously don't fit into one neat category. I believe I have a bit of AA, with a lot of AGA. I hate labels, but if asked, that's what I think.

I hope you get some regrowth -- I know how awful this is. I refuse to let my hair (or lack of) rule my life, and I will try everything to stop the loss and promote regrowth.
