K, I did a search and could not find any info. (studies)for which you were looking for. I do know that my doctor said to me that 35% of the women are helped by spiro. He mentioned something about 50% and then he said to really be realistic think of 35%.
As for helping TE, I don't think that it could from what I have read. I don't think it could do you harm if you have TE (just my opinion), but I don't think blocking androgens is what is needed for TE. Check some of the older forums on TE when Mechelle was around (she said she was a medical student specializing in hair loss). Anyway, she started suggesting that spiro. would help women with TE or CTE, if my memory serves me right. Maybe she sited someone. I cannot remember.
Anyway, I don't know what I have and it has been helping me. So, if I have CTE then it worked for me. If not, then I just have a sensitivity to androgen excess.
Unless you are having adverse reactions such as a few women have experienced, and I think they could barely get past a low dose without having problems, my opinion is not to worry too much about it.
What does your doctor say?
Best always, Michelle D.
