Hi K. I think I can answer your question. I have been diagnosed with hair loss which is caused by atypical stress. The stress was so severe that it actually gave me an adrenal problem. Apparently my adrenals are secreting too much androgen DHEAS which is the cause of the hair loss. Now I thought this meant aga, but my repro endo said no, TE can be caused by a hormone imbalance like this with excess androgens. He has since put me on an antiandrogen Aldactone 200mg/day. If that does not do it, he will try to suppress the adrenals with steroids (lucky me). My point is that he told me my hair would all grow back with time (aga doesn't), but it would take a lot of time and meds. So, in a nutshell, he thinks TE caused by stress will right itself with an antiandrogen. I have also found that in a study conducted by Whiting, a number of the women in the sample of CTE patients had slightly elevated DHEAS (androgen) levels. He prescribled an antiandrogen for these patients as well as Rogaine. As a matter of fact, let me give you the web address because I know many women here like to read things for themselves (me included) Ok, http://archderm.ama-assn.org/issues/v135n9/ffull/dlt0999-5.html I really hope this helps. I personally respect Whiting, and my endo seemed to back up what I have read by him. So, I feel that if the side effects are not a problem, the Aldactone is not harmful to the hair and can only help it. Good Luck K. BTW, I have read some of your posts and see you use dermatch, could you tell me about it?
