Hi Brian. He prescribed something called Temovate Scalp Solution made by GlaxoWellcome. I told him that I wanted to do more than just something topical but he said that this was the best place to start. I'm supposed to use it for the next 4 months. I've been dealing with my hair loss for over 2 years now so I'm not overly optimistic but I will give it a try. He said that he was a little shocked that it was autoimmune. I think it could be brought on by the accutane. What do you think? Didn't you have a biopsy? For me he did a biopsy of the scalp where I was losing hair & sent it to a lab. He said that it can tell what is causing the hair loss.Good Luck.

Hi, I've read over Beth and Ali's accutane stories from several years ago which were quite encouraging, but where is everyone who is currently experiencing hair loss from accutane? It would be so helpful to hear current positive stories. I used accutane for about 2 years on and off (low dosage and then finished with 6 months at 40mg). I noticed shedding throughout but my derm reassured me that it would only be temporary. I used accutane when I was younger for 6 months and had no hair loss issues. I stopped accutane 6 weeks ago now and since then have experienced massive shedding. I've always had long hair and have had to cut it really short. I'm now noticing a very thin area near the crown where the scalp is showing through and I would say I've lost 50-60% of my hair!! I'm becoming very depressed about all of this and can think of nothing else. It is difficult to cover it up now. I'm only taking a few vitamins, eating healthy and exercising as I don't want to take other drugs. I've ordered a hair system which won't be ready for 2 months, but at this rate of shedding, I don't know if I'll have hair left! I've had all my bloodwork done and everything came back normal. This is so devastating. Can any help or offer their stories? Thanks!
