Hello all. I'm seeking ressurance yet again. My daughter has been in an acute TE shed for 10-12 weeks and it continues. I understand that we won't see regrowth from the hair lost yesterday, last week, etc. But shouldn't we be seeing regrowth from the follicles that shed at the beginning of the phase? In fact, since it began 2 - 2 1/2 months ago, shouldn't we see regrowth now ranging from 1 to 1 1/2 cm to just 1 or two mm? The information that I've read online at various sites don't mention anything about a lapse from the time of shed to regrowth. To the contrary, they state that loss of the hair that was precipitated into the resting state is in effect, caused by the new anagen, or growing hair pushing it out the hair follicle. I'm trying to keep this horrible situation in perspective by understanding it. I know that it's caused by the shock to her system from accutane. I understand the TE, the physiology of hair growth, the normal cycles. I understand how a higher than normal number of her hairs were precipitated into the resting phase where it remains until it is shed (usually by the pushing out by the new anagen hair). With all of this knowledge,I still fear the unknown and that which I don't understand. Why do we see no regrowth at this point? Is three a dormant time from shed to regrowth? Please share your insight, knowledge, and/or experience. Thanking you in advance, Cindy.
