Hi, I agree with Steph. I used to think my hair stopped shedding when my ferritin got to 40 and would grow when it got to 70 but some say it takes much much longer, and even with idea absorbtion, the best circumstances for iron, etc. one cannot expect to gain more than 8 points a month. I'm much slower. I agree with Steph. If your serum ferritin is low, your hemoglobin can still be normal, and doctors will only tell you you are in normal range. You have to ask to see the results, get a copy. This usually goes ok if you tell them your dietition aunt wants a copy or something. Sorry, maybe just ask sweetly. Then work to get ferritin up to over 70 and I guess make sure you don't get too much iron at once. There are so many good recommendations and on the Telogen Efluvium site on tis board--just scroll down and join us. There are more posts to read there. I have read that taking iron with a bit of natural beta carotene helps, some take l-lysine with iron for absorbtion. It has to be taken two to three hours from calcium and zinc and other minerals...tricks to absorbtion show up on the Telogen Efluvium site so often. It's great and people care. Hope you'll join us.
