Serum iron is not the same as ferritin. You need to get a ferritin level to see where you are. Like Megan said you need to get it up to 70, some sources say 100 is still ok, and maintain this level. After maintaining for three months, if you do not at least see a reduction in shedding you need to look for another trigger/problem for the hair loss.
During the time you had your eating disorder you probably had less protein in the diet. Protein is essential for hair. If you find that your ferritin is low, florisene is a good product. It has helped raise my level. It takes months to raise your ferritin, it is not an overnight cure. Go to www.florisene and read about it.
