Thanks for all that information. Well from reading that, let me respond to what I know. Ok...first of all, the whole androgen thing. I am still not very sure that this is the cause because I know that my levels were naturally elevated for as long as I remember. I always had darker arm hairs (and longer) then any of my friends, little facial hair, etc. AGA doesn't run anywhere in my family. My dad doesn't have a full head of hair, but he started losing it in his 40's which was normal. I have 3 brothers, all older than me, one a twin, and NONE of them are showing ANY signs of thinning. I would think if this whole AGA thing came from a "gene," then one of them would surely have it. I mean, my oldest brother is very hairs (arms and legs)..but he has a full head of hair. My mom has a bush as well. I don't know if this has anything to do with this...but I got mono like 6 months before I started shedding (2 yrs ago) and I remember that I was very skinny at the time. Also, my immune sysytem has always been very weak. When my hair first started falling out, it was shedding like CRAZY, especially when I would brush it wet. I thought AGA was a slow thinning process?? Ok...so next, I had my ferritin checked a few weeks ago. Came back at 21 (range 10-271). That seems very low to me, although my doctor said it was normal??? Anyway, with the Spiro, I am also taking an iron supplement (SlowFE-160mg ferrous sulfate=50 mg elemental iron per day). Is this enough to raise my ferritin levels quickly. This way I think I can figure out what's causing this, the androgens, or the iron. I had a question for you. Let's just say that, even though my androgen levels are naturally elevated and just say that they are not the cause of the hair loss, and here I am taking Spiro....is that gonna have a negative effect on me if I stop taking it? If my problem is not hormonal, then Spiro shouldn't cause it to be since it's messing with my hormones, right?? I'm kind of confused about this. So I hope this is enough information for you and I hope you can give me insight of what you think. Thank you sooooo much for your help. Also, about finding a good doctor, I would, but I am really running out of time because I am leaving to study abroad to Italy in like 1 1/2 months and it takes about 2 months on a waiting list for ANY good doctor. So, I am trying to figure this out by myself from what I know and from others (like you =) ). Thanks again.
