Ill try to answer in one post <g> The pill has high levels of estrogen so it shuts down your body's own production (and you also dont ovulate as your brain "thinks" you are pregnant due to these high estrogen levels). HRT is OK but not for us (much too low estrogen, 3-5 X lower) as the estrogen is 50 yr old lady levels and is not sufficient for bone/calcium density (we need to make strong bones until age 35 or so).

As to why your own estrogen levels are low you may want to check this out with a reproductive endocrinologist (to see if you are ovulating...various causes for this....like thyroid, etc). 2-3 months is a long time without a period, but it can happen. If this is the case DONT take the pill now as you would have to come off again (bad for hair) but if not you probably need a higher pill (higher estrogen). Im sorry, I cant remember, but what pill were you on before (Ill find a link to a good site and you can check your pill out).

AD stands for antidepressants. Im on Luvox/Fluvoxamine and it doesnt cause hair loss (one of the few that is OK for this). Its good for me.

The bottom line is to remember (1) you are young and have youth and time on your side (2) there are meds out there that can help (3) your hair loss is probably not AGA but a heavy TE(s) and TEs recover....very common. But think about long term recovery...1-2 years for your old hair to return once you have fixed all the triggers (like hormones, diet, iron, thyroid...etc).
