Hi. I'm so sorry you have to live through this. But wow, you are very very full of courage to have testified. I admire that. Bullies are my least favorite types. I wish I could transfer to you a sense of safety that was real, because to me it sounds like that is really all you need to recover--hair and all. My niece noticed a deepening on either side of her widow's peak when she miscarried. My other niece noted just lots of shedding after a delivery. I miscarried once and my frontal hair thinned top front. After huge hormone shifts in my younger years, I have noticed front center hair thinning, and it came back. When low in iron, post surgery, and huge shifts and stress, frontal hair fell out over night in long narrow patches. Each time in my younger years it all grew back without worry or concern on my part. I wish I can say how long but it didn't worry me because the doctor warned me he'd banged my ovaries up in surgery and this might happen to my hair, or I just KNEW why. I have read on the Te forum that hair around the face is more vulnerable than hair in other areas. We can more easily see hair loss in some areas. I've got multiple causes for Te and total hysterectomy so this is a longer process because I began it low in iron and mucliple surgeries close together, intense medications as they make, etc. So my story is not similar to you at all NOW. But I really had stress after my surgery in my younger years (hormone shift with it) and a huge bully to deal with threatened me then. Bullies do that. BUT I AM VERY SURE that the huge change in hormones from taking the medicine to terminate and that huge shift from pregnancy to nonpregnancy can make hair thin, esp. showing up in the frontal area. I AM SURE also that stress can make hair fall out. I've seen my cortisol levels when I was under stress. They get high end of normal, tho now they don't change that much because I suspect they are a bit worn out and as my gyn says, need low stress, sleep, good nourishement. The only reason I would get tests if i were you, is to reassure yourself. But if you take them when under stress, some adrenal androgens may be higher than yours usually would be, maybe. When cortisol rises, they may rise also. And that can cause TE but i don't think bursts will ruin follicles, tho a derm might tell you to try minoxidol during stress to be protective of the follicles or something. I've been reading about PTSD (post traumatic Stress), adrenal exhaustion, and recovery from stress. Can you gently and gradually give up coffee, give up cigs by substituting patch and gum? Also eat this amount of protein if you are not very inactive and more if you are: YOUR weight in lbs divided by 2.2 times .8 for total protein needed a day for moderate activty. Then eat a third of that for meals 3 times a day each day. Get enough calories, but from whole breads and no jolts with sugar very often. Slow carbs. Don't take too much B 6 for too long. Deep breath. I took biofeedback once and found that putting on makeup put me in alpha state cuz it involved soothing my skin, etc. Find out what works for you and enjoy unti your adrenals are reassured once again. Extra locks might reassure them even because they respond to unconscious mind, not conscious. Adrenals recover during sleep and the best time for them is 10 pm to daybreak to get their sleep. I'm a PTSD insomniac and that isn't easy as it is nearly 3 am but it would be ideal and something to work toward. Do it when and in the order you want because it is your life. These are just my ideas anyhow. My friend did this thing where in a meditation kind of state she talked to her adrenals and unconscius mind to ask how to feel safe and sleep. She added locks, tho she was safe enough with the ones she had; she made it a policy every day to do things to enjoy her safety and calm...because her mind was all well but her body was jumpy due to adrenals. She reminded them how she had acted to be safe and continued to and finally she had periods again--and slept--but after she begin to eat right, especially EFAs. Don't give out your e-mail on line, etc. This may not apply to you, some of it, but I want to reassure you that hair falls out in stress and it falls out from hormone changes. I would go to the expense of having my serum ferritin tested and aim for the middle of the range for that lab, not either extreme. coffee in France is so wonderful. But so is their decalf. cut down a bit at a time or be prepared for a headache. when I quit coffe, I seated and shook and was blind with headache for 3 days. I still use 1/2 cup of coffee in the am. Green tea decaffinated with interfere with male hormones attacking hair follicles some say. God I love french food. If that is where you are, and I'd lie about it if I were you, you lucky girl. Stay safe and you know what I think? I think it was the hormone changes and the stress hormones are hormones also.
