Hey Amy. How are you? Yes, I certainly have tried to do some homework in my quest to fix my hair problem. I wish I had known a lot of this stuff years ago because my hair would have been a lot better off.
My naturopath feels that I have a subclinical hyperthyroid. My TSH was 1.16 which is normal, but my free T4 measurement was 22 with a maximum normal reading of 23. Also my free T3 was on the higher end of normal. I am taking some Unda drops to help support my thyroid.
She also gave me an adrenal support remedy, but I don't want to take it. I know that although my hormones/thyroid may have caused a big worsening of my hair situation, I do have AGA on top of that. I don't want to take anything that may possibly cause my androgens to increase. She says that the supplement is more of a support than a stimulant, but right now I'll stick with the thyroid drops and the million other things I am taking.
I have an allergist appt in November and an endo appt in January. I know that something that I am taking has brought my shed down to 'normal' levels. But I am watching my hairline worsen day by day.
As far as the Finacea gel, I am going to order it online. I've been to 4 pharmacies here in Canada and no one can fill this for me! I will definitely let you know.
Also I think I am going to try Rogaine very shortly. Even though my hair issues may not be blatantly obvious to a casual observer, for my mental health, I cannot continue slowly thinning, and I don't want to waste time waiting for hair to maybe grow back. I see some miniaturized hairs regrowing in my hairline which has receded in the past 2 months and I need to do something before it is too late!
My dr did not recommend that I take the Prostate formula, but she doesn't want to think my problem is genetic, she feels it is purely hormonal. I have to set her straight on that one, I think.
How are you doing with things? Everything OK?
