Hey Margo, I had not really noticed how thin my hair was getting until my mom pointed it out to me. She made a dermatologist appointment for me this spring where I was diagnosed with a "severe" case of AGA. I just turned 19, so my derm believes I've had hair loss since puberty.

I havent experienced any side effects from taking Proscar, and there was no shed involved when I first started taking it. My advice with Rogaine is to stick with it and let your derm make the decisions on going off of it if you feel like you need to. I was fed up with Rogaine before I was told I had regrowth. It really messed with the texture of my hair for a bit, I didnt think it was doing anything, and the increase in shed for the first 2 weeks was shocking despite being warned.
