Hi Margo. Well I am a firm believer in counselling and have been a few times myself over the years, so that was a smart choice!

I am so glad to hear your shed is slowing down. Three days is great, I'm sure it will continue to go down.

As far as a firm diagnosis, I have never received one and never had a scalp biopsy. I have diagnosed myself. I first noticed a thinning patch in the dead centre of my hairline that became a little gap. Then my part got a little wider than most people. It has been that way for years. Doctors and derms that I've visited on and off during the years never diagnosed me with anything because they've never acknowledged any problem and I didn't know any better (well I knew something was wrong, but didn't know my facts). I still had lots of hair (fine but lots of it). Anyways, I fit all the symptoms, onset after puberty, miniaturization etc etc. At times over the years I may have been bummed about it temporarily, but always had hair to do all the latest hairstyles, colours etc. Its only been since this summer that its reached the bottom of the barrel in terms of see=through-ness at the bangs and reduction in overall density. Looking back at pictures, I can honestly tell you that my ponytail is half the thickness that it was last Christmas.

I have yet to receive my Finacea gel. I had to order it from an online pharmacy, and then today had to get my dr to sign a 'special access letter'. Apparently it comes from Europe and Health Canada can turn it away at the border unless one of these letters is signed. Royal pain in the butt, but at least the paperwork has been completed and the wheels are in motion. I will keep you updated. Thanks for the email address, I will send you a note soon!
