How can you tell if your hairloss is being aggravated by sensitivity to propylene glycol?

I've been diagnosed with AGA/CTE and have been on Minox 5% for 11 months now and I can say that I think my hair is half of what I had before I started. At the rate I'm going I won't have anymore hair by next year.

Shedding did taper off when I switched to an alcohol based Minox, but the thinning got worse!!

My derm insists it isn't the Minox that's causing it but the cycles that CTE goes through. My endo and an acne specialist want me to start on Spironolactone, but am afraid to go on it till I'm sure that the propylenge glycol is not causing more damage.

Will a scalp biopsy show this?
