Hi there. I'm sorry that I have no clue about whether PPG sensitivity causes further hair loss. But I would think that if your scalp is extremely inflamed, it certainly wouldn't make the shedding situation any better.
In case you are not aware, there is a PPG-free 5% formulation available. We in Canada can get this made up at compounding pharmacies. I've seen several posts on this and other sites regarding Dr. Lee's PPG-free formula that is available at www.minoxidil.com I think that people with PPG sensitivity find Dr Lee's solution much easier to tolerate and have also seen posts saying it is less greasy that the regular version.
Perhaps you can talk to your doc about the scalp sensitivity and get something to calm it down. I think tea tree oil shampoo can be very soothing...maybe something for you to check into.
