When I saw my derm last September, she recommended Rogaine, regardless of whether I had CTE or AGA. Told me, the treatment is the same. She assured me that Rogaine can help with chronic shedding by prolonging the anagen phase--makes sense. Since AGA (in a diffuse pattern) and CTE are so similar anyway, logically, this tells me that Rogaine should help with diffuse loss, but still I worry. The last time I spoke to my derm, she indicated I may very well have to use the 5% to get good results though.

I am applying the Rogaine mostly to the sides, temples, and bottom back half of my hair since that is where I am thinnest. She did not tell me to do this. I just started doing it this way, one because I want the highest absorption in those areas since they are thinnest (not sure if this really matters though - I will ask her when I see her next week), and two, because since the hair is thin there, it is easy to get the Rogaine on my scalp and not my hair -- not much hair to get it on in those places!!

Do you think you will start Rogaine? How much hair are you losing? Is yours diffuse also?
