Hi Fade. I am so sorry that you are going through this right now. It doesn't make sense, does it, we are doing something to improve our hair and it makes it worse. This is really tough, but you can do it. You are right, it is very unlikely that your hair would have improved on its own. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but I'm going through the same realization myself. Even with my 'normal shed', my hair is still getting thinner and thinner! I think my head was so ravaged by the stupid high shed I had this spring/summer that I can't afford to lose one more hair. Even with my regrowth, my scalp is simply not being covered.

I am definitely going to start Rogaine, but I am going to wait until the new year. If Rogaine gave me a dread shed, I might end up with no hair on the front of my head. I can't deal with seeing all my family at Christmas with no hair, so it might be stupid, but I'm going to wait. Unless of course things get so bad between now and then that I decide to do it sooner. I am going to beg my new derm who I am waiting for an appt with, and the endo, for Avodart.

I have stopped being horribly depressed about my hair, but when I look at it, I just can't believe how much worse it is than a few short months ago, when I never even thought about it. (and that was after 17 years of very slow AGA where all I had was a slightly odd but still normal hairline and a slightly wider part, now its see through city)

Ugh, I'm right there with you. By the way, I did read something (can't remember where) that said Rogaine is sending signals to our follicles to produce stronger hair. (the ones in anagen) Since the hair can't start growing a thicker hair midstream, the follicle ejects the hair and starts again. So if this is true, it IS possible that hair is being forced into telogen from anagen in order to make a thicker hair. Makes sense to me, but still hard to deal with. I'm thinking of you and praying for you to have strength to get through this. Hopefully when you have a head full of hair in a few months, you can walk me through the dread shed!! Hugs, Dorinha
