Yes. I agree. I have mellowed quite a bit in my views on politics. One thing. I think that the United States can be a benevolent force in the world. Instead of curling up like a snail in its shell with this missile defense system, it should be taking a more active role in spreading democracy throughout the world. ten years ago, I would never have had these thoughts, and I still despise a lot of the politics that have come from south of my home. Your government has the ability to effect positive change in the world. Don't get me wrong. There are many good things about the US that I cannot mention while I'm running it down. The idea of public education for starters. I think of the public's job kind of like a George Washington lobbying for money for his military. There is too much wealth in your country and ours for people to have to live on the streets, or go without access to health care, or go under nourished etc etc. The US and Canada together could be real super powers and be a model for the world, if only your Republicans and our conservatives could loosen up their ideas a bit. I have several friends who have been brought up in conservative house holds. A lot of my own family are conservative in their thoughts as well. It's an easy road to follow at the moment. Change is always good if it's for the better. Real democracy thrived in your original 13 states when people had a voice. Talking about oil, I don't agree with Ghadaffi's policy of terrorism, but it's been said that his country has real democracy. People do participate in local political decisions there. And everyone own either their own apartment or house as a direct result of the oil profits there. Not bad for a country that only has oil and sand I'd say. Again, I do not agree with his approach to "international policy."

We shouldn't allow ourselves, the working class, to just become another special interest group as far as the government is concerened. We have to let ourselves be heard more than ever. Many things could be better, and I believe that most people want change for the better. Even the republicans and conservatives.
