I don't now about ethyl alcohol but everclear is a better choice than vodka.Go to a larger liqour store and they'll sell it.or the highest proof vodka would be ok.

There they are, in order of significance (as far as I can tell). VEGF appears to be the most important growth factor. The fact is, practically every major treatment known to increase hair growth also just happens to increase VEGF. The first study below suggests that Minoxidil may work by upregulating the expresssion of VEGF. The second study indicates that, not only is Minoxidil tied to VEGF, so are antiandrogens, 5-ar inhibitors, and estrogens. The third study (no abstract) suggests (lets assume) that hair follicles can lose their VEGF. Assuming this is the case and that Minoxidil works primarily by upregulating VEGF, Minoxidil would have little or no effect on these hair follicles. This could explain why Minoxidil does not often "wake up dead follicles," and does not stop the progression of hair loss. The fourth study suggests that FGF and EGF increase proliferation of hair papilla cells, whereas Minoxidil had no effect. The other studies provide further support for these and other growth factors involved in hair growth. The last section includes the news brief about the development of a VEGF cream.

This is not all new. The topic has been discussed before. However, its something that does not get enough attention. Dr P has responded to threads on this subject in the past saying VEGF simply produces NO. This would imply that his products work just as well. Well, we have a good idea how well his products work, and how well Minoxidil works. They are good, but not great. Clearly, VEGF supplementation, and other growth factors, appear to have huge potential far beyond Minoxidil or any other treament.
