The Senburi, which is kind of grass-like, would extract just fine in the whole form, as it's thin and permeable to alcohol. The Bayberry is a root bark, and would be best at least coarsely ground. Both options are available on my cart. Senburi is tremendously bitter, and when we grind it, the dust from the air leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth for a couple hours! So my recommendation is: whole Senburi and powdered Bayberry.
