You previous post on female breast cancer bothered me a lot. When I was a kid, I reallt admired a certain uncle of mine. I looked up to here more than my dad because there was an intelligent, sophisticated, gentleness about him, and my dad was real real tough. My dad and his brother was absolutely opposite. I knew my dad was a good man, but my uncle, his brother, was sophisticated and highly intelligent.

I was so dissapointed when I was 17 years and his wife, my favorite aunt, was diagnosed with breast cancer. But the thing that really blew me away was that within weeks of my aunts death my favorite uncle, (my dead aunts husband) already had himself another women. A young hottie. It blew me away. He must've had her waiting in the wings. I started feeling differently about both him and my dad then. My dads boring principles seemed so much more beautiful all of a sudden, and I began thinking of my uncle as a smooth-talking con man. He used to dazzle with me with his beautiful use of language and his seemingly endless volume of knowledge. But he was a phoney and a fake. His vows to his wife meant nothing. He knew she was dying and so he got himself another woman before she even died and moved the "replacement" woman into the house within weeks of his wifes death.

The symmetry thing: I think you're right. I think symmetry is an essential ingredient of attractiveness. Attractiveness/beauty is improtant itself, but also the shape and form of peoples bodies. I think people missing arms and legs are viewed as less appealing, for example.

Hair and breasts are a double whammy though because both are viewed as sexuality itself whereas arms and legs are specifically about shape and form. Think about it, even before you lost hair didn't you view womens hair as sexually beautiful and there breasts as well? My point is this: I agree totally with your point that hairloss equals looking bad in part because of the loss of symmetry after hairloss, but in a double-whammy hairloss is a problem for men because women sexually digest our hair. It isn't just the loss of symmety, which is bad enough in itself, but it's also that she is sexually stimulated by a mans hair if the man has hair. And she is sexually stimulated by it BIG TIME, along with the ATTRACTIVENESS that his hair produces, if he has hair.
