Dear hairsite-team and all the othes, who perhaps didnīt read: here is the information from forum 25 and 26 again:

Dear hairsite.com-team, sorry, in my last posting I forgot to give you the address of AntiCancer Inc., which is probably one of the most promissing biotech firms in the hair research field. Their researchers published groundbreaking research results during the last 6 years in some of the most important scientific journals, e.g. Hoffman RM The hair follicle as a gene therapy target Nat Biotechnol (United States), Jan 2000, 18(1) p20-1 / Li L, Hoffman RM Model of selective gene therapy of hair growth: liposome targeting of the active Lac-Z gene to hair follicles of histocultured skin [letter] In Vitro Cell Dev Biol Anim (United States), Jan 1995, 31(1) p11-3 / Li L, Hoffman RM The feasibility of targeted selective gene therapy of the hair follicle. Nat Med (United States), Jul 1995, 1(7) p705-6 / Zhao M, Saito N, Li L, et al. A novel approach to gene therapy of albino hair in histoculture with a retroviral streptomyces tyrosinase gene. Pigment Cell Res (Denmark), Oct 2000, 13(5) p345-51 and many other publications (please make a search in MEDLINE about "gene therapy hair"). Dr. Hoffman, the CEO of AntiCancer Inc. is very kind and usually answers e-mails within 2 days. He said, that he would be very happy about additional funding and that this funding would help accelerating their recent hair gene therapy research projects. In my opinion the researchers from AntiCancer Inc. should be one of the top priorities in funding. No other research group published as many papers about research progress in hair gene therapy. The contact address is Mail: AntiCancer Inc. 7917 Ostrow street San Diego, CA 92111 USA Phone: (858) 654-2555 Fax: (858) 268-4175 Email: all@anticancer.com Website: http://www.anticancer.com Thank you very much for your efforts Andreas Lutz

Here are some other articles and scientific publications, that prove the enormous potential of the AntiCancer Inc. researchers: http://www.regrowth.com/documents.cfm?id=10205 http://www.accessexcellence.org/WN/SUA06/bald.html http://www.informagen.com/Resource_Informagen/Full/3119.html Scientific publications: Hoffman RM Topical liposome targeting of dyes, melanins, genes, and proteins selectively to hair follicles. - Dr. Cotsarelis (University of Pennsylvania). Dr. Cotsarelis is also researching delivery methods for therapeutic genes. But even more important is his research about hair follicle stem cells. Only if the therapeutic genes reach the hair follicle stem cells, a permanent cure is possible. If the therapeutic genes donīt reach the hair follicle stem cells, also a gene therapy must be repeated regularly. So this is very important research. In an e-mail published at http://www.hairloss-research.org Dr. Cotsarelis says, that his stem cell research is also important for hair multiplication: "We're trying to find out more about stem cells for multiple reasons, but two major reasons are: 1. We believe stem ells are important targets for gene therapy. By targeting stem cells, we should be able to cause long-lasting changes in the hair. 2. By isolating stem cells we may be able to 'clone' follicles and reintroduce them to patients." Some more information about Dr. Cotsarelis can be found e.g. at http://www.hairsite.com/library/abst-88.htm http://members.tripod.com/alopecia/stemcell.htmhttp://members.tripod.com/alopecia/transduction.htm Some scientific publications of Dr. Cotsarelis et al.: Domashenko A, Gupta S, Cotsarelis G Efficient delivery of transgenes to human hair follicle progenitor cells using topical lipoplex.
