Andreas, you're way off base. The studies exist but you have ignored them. Dr. Yoshizato, for instance, has published papers about hair cloning. Drs. Jahoda and Reynolds have also published on the subject.

Your enthusiasm for gene therapy is wonderful, but the fact remains that TISSUE ENGINEERING is a far superior and workable technology in the short term, which will deliver results that are just as good, if not better. Plus, we have to consider the fact that it's unlikely any gene therapy cure would pass through the FDA without considerable problems. So, with gene therapy, we really are talking about a cure that is at least 8-10 years away. Hair cloning is a viable technology for TODAY. Don't assume that just because you don't see lots of papers on the subject, that it's no good. Few scientists have chosen to research follicle cell culture/cloning, that's all. For many scientists working in hair research, gene therapy is "sexier" because the whole "human genome project" field is considered hot. Genetic research is basic science (sexy), whereas cell multiplication is applied science (boring). That's why most top scientists looking for hair loss cures would rather go the genetic route than sit in a lab and culture somatic cells. GT will definitely suck up a lot of money and attention that could be going to HM, and it's a pity, because HM is the faster route to the goal.
