Just spoke with GlaxoSmithKline and here's a summary plus more. Dutasteride for prostate (BPH) is on the front burner and making progress towards FDA approval. No expected release date for it. Relative to alopecia it is still in phase II and is showing encouraging results but they can't be revealed until phase III is completed. There is a push by GSK to get this drug to market for alopecia and it does appear in the most recent presentation to shareholders of the companies drug research and plans for marketing. As soon as the BPH remedy is released, however, it's a matter of effort and it could be used for alopecia. Looks like a little longer, and all indications are late 2001 -2002 BPH will be available. The presentation showed Dutasteride for alopecia hitting the market in 2003.....could be earlier due to BPH being approved.
