There's a publication called the National Hair Journal (www.nationalhairjournal.com) which apparently caters to two industries: hair transplantation and non-surgical "hair replacement" (HCM, etc.)
I did a search on their site for articles containing "clone" or "cloning". Eight articles came up, containing nothing really new, but significantly there were several interviews with people like Lee Bosley, and other hair transplant surgeons, in which they were asked about cloning, and INVARIABLY they all gave the standard B.S. answers that this will take "a long time" to come.... even "much longer than people expect". One surgeon interviewed was Dr. William Rassman of the New Hair Institute. Toward the end of the interview, there was this exchange between Rassman and the NHJ interviewer:
Rassman: I believe the 250,000 hair surgeries done each year in the United States will grow to half a million in three or four years, and to a million a few years thereafter. Men are moving into vanity surgery in a big way!
NHJ: That’s a good upbeat note to finish on. There are over seven hundred hair transplant physicians who hope you are right. Thank you for spending this time with us.
I urge everyone to check this out. It just confirms what I believe about the HT industry -- that they are deliberately obstructing adoption of hair cloning, and offering every excuse under the sun for the delay.
