Hi guys, I copied your posts here so I could respond more easily.

Trey wrote: They had a thing on Dateline last week about "ChronoBiology"....>>> Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. I want to get the most out of what I am taking.

One thing though I CAN tell you -- you should lose the coffee....>>> I know this, but I have decided that I can't give up ALL my bad habits that I enjoy. I don't smoke and I try to eat reasonably healthy. I like to have beer sometimes, but try to save it for weekends. Coffee is one of those things that I am aware of the bad things, but just simply enjoy. I have stopped drinking so much diet soda. I used to drink 64oz a day (no joke), but now only have it once or twice a week.

Bill wrote: Some supplements are made to be taken with food, while others are made to be taken on an empty stomach.>>> The fact sheet on my thyroid meds says an empty stomach is best, but ever since being a little girl, I took it with breakfast and my flinstone vitamin. One of my doctors said "If you have always taken it with food, it's probably fine." The last time I saw my doctor here, I insisted that he check my thyroid levels and the results were "normal"--but I still think that I am in the low end of the range due to some physical problems. I still have the effects of low thyroid and wanted him to increase my dosage. I honestly think it's related to my hairloss. This week, my goal is to find a new doctor and an endo who can more seriuosly take a look at me and my particular problems. I will NOT go back to that last guy. He told me that hair doesn't fall out of women's heads--so how can I give him credit for being professional?

>>>>First, vitamins and minerals are definitely to be taken with food, so a, b's, c, d, e, k, and the host of minerals - taken with food, not by time of day.>>>> Since I eat dinner after I run, perhaps that would be a good time to take my vitamin. I may start taking the thyroid at bed or before the run. The problem is most of my life I have the habit of the taking in the mornings and therefore have forgotten it a few times lately (which throws off my system-I feel it)

>>>>In regards to taking thyroid medication, I do not know. Are you taking the regular thyroid hormone ?>>> I take synthyroid now and have been on levothyroid off and on depending on which one my insurance prefers. There is a natural version--Armour--but it's hard to get around here.

>>>>> Many people are able to get off that altogether.>>>> About 10 years ago, my doctor said taking it was optional so I went off. The resulting problems were fainting, severe constipation, exhaustion, and weight gain. I only fainted a few times and it may have been due to other factors. I went back on thyroid after that and am better.

>>>>Sometimes a person really does have an inadequate gland, requiring the taking of the thyroid hormone, but it can many times be corrected nutritionally>>>>> And I would love to know more about how to do this. There is a thyroid website which has good info, but I admit that I haven't spent enough time there. I need to learn more as I'm sure it affects my hair.

>>>>which a doctor will not tell you, because he doesn't know, or doesn't want you to know.>>> With all the "luck" I had with doctors, this doesn't shock me.

>>>>Also a lack of essential fats can slow down your metabolism greatly, because along with that, the person is also usually taking in an excess of sugar and saturated fats.>>>> I do ok on the sugar stuff, however, I will admit that I love stuff like fried anything. I try not to do it very often, but I think I do it more than I should. I do eat the "good" fats though. I love fish and sardines. I love avacadoes (don't know if they are good or bad).

I try to get plenty of fresh fruits and veggies and have some with every meal, but I manage to get in the bad stuff too.

Thanks for the advice and information, gentlemen. I have work to do and am highly motivated (at least this week) Take care, and God bless, Jean
