Jean, There are tests you can take to determine your levels of at least the 2 most important raw materials needed to make the thyroid hormone - tyrosine and iodine. Not many people have an iodine problem, unless you are on a salt-free diet, since most salts are iodized. However, you could be lacking in tyrosine, the precursor to many of the neurotransmitter hormones, such as adrenalin and dopamine.

Avocados are mostly omega9. These are not bad per se, but they do not meet the needs of the essential fats. Cold-water fish contains plentiful amounts of omega3, but not after you cook them. So far, I do not see any omega6.

The essential fats are highly reactive to light, heat, and oxygen. 99% of people are probably highly lacking in them, which is why I mentioned them.

There is nothing dangerous about taking the hormone, other than the cost to your pocketbook, but the mere sign that you need to, at leasts suggests the possibility that your body is telling you that it is unbalanced.

I know several people, AFTER HAVING CORRECTED THEIR DIETARY PROBLEMS, were able to go off the medicine. My thyroid levels are naturally low, which by the way, you can tell by your natural body temperature, but I have loads of energy, so having a low-normal reading, does not necessarily preclude that you are low.

However, the symptoms of fainting, etc. do suggest that you are too low.
