Flax seeds are fine for fiber, but according to tests, people do not break them down and absorb them all that well.

Flax is a GREAT source of omega3 - might I suggest flax meal - much more absorbable. Get it at a health food store. I have never seen a health food store that does not keep it refrigerated, but if they don't, then don't buy it there. It should be refrigerated, and kept refrigerated at home as well.
