Not a good way to address someone, huh?

I hope you have not done anything to yourself, and are doing ok. I saw this when I was looking over in the HM old posts, and thought this might help you figure out other ways to deal with hairloss. It was posted by tk421.

Comments An optimistic thought for everyone...

A couple of years ago, when hell broke loose on my hairline, I seeked the advice of a transplant surgeon who, witnessing my great dissaray, told me about this revolutionnary "cloning" procedure, and how I would eventually get all of my hair back (that would have been this year, according to his timeframe). That did a lot to fix my depression, but I felt like it wasn't enough: I needed to find a way to reduce the feelings of humiliation, of powerlessness. I therefore decided to COMPENSATE for my hairloss, at least temporarily. I had read in a dermatology manual that men who find ways to compensate for the loss of their hair coped with it better. A bald Arab friend of mine even told me of an arab proverb that stipulates that men who lose their hair at a young age are bound to become rich, as they strive with unforeseen drive to regain thier lost pride. Well, my hairloss had seriously affected my academic and social performance, so I needed to find other sources of satisfaction, as well as ways of socializing. This is why I took a bow: when this thing is ready, I'll be fluent in 5 languages. I already am fluent in both french and english, and am currently speaking a bit of japanese, as well as getting into russian and german. Not easy languages, may you notice. You have no idea what a difference it made in my self-esteem. In my young days (I'm still young, at 26... yet I feel so old), I just needed to do my hair right to attract attention, I was so friendly, confident and good-looking(OK, I'm bragging here!!). But so many people have hair!! Imagine how cool it feels to be reading russian and japanese newspapers in a coffee shop, you wouldn't believe the conversations it triggers, you wouldn't believe how impressed women are by it. Of course, I'm not just doing that to impress people, since these languages will be extremely helpful in my carrer in aerospace engineering. But my god am I proud of it! Perhaps even more than of my lost hair. Heck, I'll get the hair back in less than five years, so why worry about it so much, when there is so much I can learn in the meantime. Surely, hairloss is a personnal thing, but you can't admit that it makes a lot of us feel inferior, with women and working relations as well. Well, developping a talent is the best way to regain that lost pride. In five years, all of this will be over. Sure, my twenties will have been painfull, but they will have tought me so much about life, and plenty of other things. Compensation is the way that I got a new control on my life, and it made me meet so many interesting people. Heck, this is how I met my girlfriend! In five years, teh humiliation will be all over, but not only will I have fantastic hair, but I'll be an aerospace engineer with a PhD and fluent in 5 harsh languages! Take that Male Pattern Baldness! My advice to anyone reading this is to find something that you really enjoy, that will help you recapture your lost pride. Not buying a nice car or something like that, but something in which you will feel like you are GROWING. This is really the key behind compensation: losing your hair makes you feel like you are deteriorating, so you must find some way to grow, to get better, etc... Arts are also a fantastic way to do this. I got back into arts last year, alos in that same philosophy. You wouldn't believe how good I got in so little time! NOBODY draws hair like me, believe me! Again, this is such a wonderful way to meet people and, of course, to attract women. So many women asked me out after I finished drawing them, that sometimes (I said only somtimes, okay?) I feel like I don't even need hair anymore. Anyways, I hope that may give some good ideas to those of you who feel cheated out of happiness because of hairloss. Just remember that this is only temporary now, thanks to Dr Gho, and focus on life, focus on growth. Thank you for reading my story. _________________________________________________

I thought that was a very good post and something you needed to see. You'll have your hair back one day. Just hang in there. It is closer now than ever, and every day that ticks by, you are closer and closer to it. Not farther, but CLOSER. Take care

Cale
