I have ALWAYS said the chances were that this was probably a hoax, not something real, and not a classical "scam" to steal people's money. A while back, I posted that I thought the chances of DF being real were only about 15%, with an 85% chance of a hoax.

However, I wasn't clever enough to surmise the real MOTIVE behind the hoax. Someone else brought that out.

Now we have a plausible motive: to "smoke out" Dr. Gho and either induce him to go public sooner with HM, or to put the pressure on and get him to work faster to make HM available.

I'm not implicating Pavlo as being a co-conspirator in this, but I think it's interesting that he saw fit to phone Gho's office and assess Gho's and Fleskens' reaction to this. Maybe the conspirators were waiting and waiting for some kind of response from Gho, and finally decided to call him to elicit such a response, and demonstrated the trepidation and sense of urgency that their ruse was intended to create in Dr. Gho.

In any event, I think it's very interesting that many posters who were previously among the most gung-ho that something be done to pry information from Gho by any means necessary, are now very infrequent posters on both the HM and the DF forums. One would think that with the degree of unbridled enthusiasm they had for HM, they'd have a similar degree of enthusiasm for something like DF, proven or not. But now, they're nowhere to be found on either the DF or the HM forums.

I also have some ideas about the guy who sent out the messages selling the Gho information, and the subsequent so-called "investigation" of that person.

I think we still can't rule out that the information was really taken from Gho's computers (either an inside job or a hack-in from the outside). So far, nobody has shown me anything which irrefutably demonstrates either that the info and photos came from Gho's harddrive, or that they did not.

I think the guy sending out emails and posting messages about a so-called "investigation" after the fact, was a total crock, and I am still trying to figure out the possible motivation behind that particular move.
